Walmart unveils ‘Store of the Future’ shopping experience
The retail giant is planning to remodel several stores in Michigan to feature new digital-physical integrations.
The remodel features improved layouts, expanded product selections and innovative technology to help associates better support customers and make their shopping experience more convenient and enjoyable.
“The biggest thing is we want to make sure that we’re constantly evolving and making sure that we’re meeting customers where and how they want to shop,” said Jake Gailey, regional general manager for Walmart’s stores across Michigan. “We’re constantly innovating.”
In addition, Walmart recently announced its commitment to build or convert more than 150 stores in the next five years, while continuing the transformation of existing stores.
“It encompasses a lot of different initiatives, elevated brand shops and activated corners where you can bridge the gap between digital and physical,” said Gailey. “You can use the Walmart app to explore an expanded assortment or a variety of different options. We call those digital touchpoints. You’ll also see some innovations around our produce and deli areas.”
